Bear Clan
This piece is very special to me. It is my way of honoring my family as well as the Bear clan of the Red Lake Ojibwe which we are part of. The Ojibwe created the dream catcher, and in each pad of the paw you can see my interpretation of different dream catchers. Below that you can see Red Lake with a birch canoe. Both images are powerful images of Ojibwe culture. The paw itself sits on top of a dream catcher.

This is my grandparents barn and silo on the Red Lake Reservation in Northern Minnesota. As a young boy I remember the moon always looking so large in that part of the country.

This is one of my favorite pieces. The angel is a silhouette among the trees sitting in her tears as she cries for her mistakes. The crow represents that hope is not lost and she will fly again.

Bear
My family on my dad's side belongs to the Red Lake Band of Chippewa of northern Minnesota. Our tribe is made up of seven clans and my family is part of the Bear clan. This piece is to honor our clan.

When going through dark times it is important to remember that there is Hope. The disfigured skull represents the torment we go through, and the flowers represent the hope we cling to in those dark times. The birds flying represent the soul being released from the torment.

Kiss me with Music
I have always had a love for music. This piece was inspired by my nephew's wedding. He is a music teacher so I wanted to create a piece that would reflect his love for music as well as his love for his new wife. The notes shown are from their song. The double treble clef shows the duality of the two people as one. Play the notes and see if you can recognize the song.

My Grandparent's farm is in Northern Minnesota. I created the drawing from the photo. I have had many great memories on that farm and playing in that barn as a kid.

I drew this one after spending many weeks in a very dark mental state. I started having thoughts of suicide. I drew this to remind myself of the duality of life's ups and downs and to remind myself others need me to Stay.

Dew Drop Mushroom
A few years ago, my daughter was on a mushroom drawing phase, and I decided to join her. The meaning of the dew drop falling from the larger mushroom is to illustrate the dream of a diverse world. The little bit of color in the centipedes brings the characters of the mushrooms dream to life. This piece shows some artistic range while staying true to my unique shadow style.
